ZANU-PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs Amai Grace Mugabe has initiated a nationwide training programme to equip the wing’s provincial executive members with leadership skills.
Her deputy Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo is leading a team comprising the Women’s League’s top 10 around the country’s 10 provinces.
She told our Bulawayo Bureau that the training programme started in Matabeleland South yesterday.
Training programmes would be conducted in Matabeleland North and Bulawayo today and tomorrow, followed by other provinces.
“We have embarked on an induction exercise, a programme that was initiated by the First Lady (Amai Grace Mugabe) to go around provinces teaching executive members about important aspects of the department of Women’s Affairs.
“The training is on leadership, party structures, communication methods as leaders within the party and how to strengthen the party as well as taking members through the party’s constitution,” Cde Moyo said.
She said the Matabeleland South induction workshop was held at Esigodini while Lupane Hall will be the venue for today’s workshop in Matabeleland North Province.
“After Bulawayo, we will take a break to have a post-mortem of what we would have covered before we move to the Midlands, Mashonaland West, Harare, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Manicaland and Masvingo in that order,” said Cde Moyo.
Facilitators for the training workshops are drawn from the Women’s League executive and selected technocrats.
Each province was initially allocated two days for the training but that was slashed to one day each.
Matabeleland North Women’s League provincial chairperson Cde Madeline Bhebhe said they were ready for today’s induction that will also be attended by some Central Committee members.
“We are preparing for the programme as we expect all provincial leaders to attend,” she said.
The other provincial executive members in Matabeleland North are Cdes Dora Msimanga (Tsholotsho), Sithembile Gumbo (Lupane), Sibongile Mkandla who is treasurer from Umguza and the political commissar Grace Dube from Hwange District.
National executive members from the province who will also attend the workshop include Cdes Sithokozile Mathuthu, Donnie Ngwenyama-Sibanda, Musa Ncube and Veronica Munkuli.
Cde Bhebhe said there will also be presentations by officials representing the ministries of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development, Small and Medium Enterprises as well as that of Mines and Mining Development as they directly work with the Women’s League towards the empowerment of women.
